FLIPPED OUT Japanese Sweet Potato, Hemp-Banana-Ginger Smoothie Bowl With A Bitter Stripe of Kale & Blackberry!

Every time I make a Baberbowl I have a general direction, but never a set plan. This Baberbowl was a big “oh, wait!” as I loaded the bowl up, and up, and up as because I kept remembering more ingredients to use. Basically, I flipped this bowl out, and it was wonderful.

A Baberbowl is not just a smoothie bowl, I create them to be nutritionally balanced with greens, healthy fats, and fruit in a 3:2:1 ratio. I will post about the basics of balancing out a Baberbowl so you can eventually begin to use my guidelines as a way to model your own beautiful creations every morning, or whenever you decide you would like to spoon a bowl.

Today, my Baberbowl is backdropped by the wall on the side of my apartment building. It’s chipped, but still rustic and red enough to bring out the berry hues of my bowl. I hope you enjoy!

Ingredients:

  1. 1/4 cup hemp seed
  2. Baby lemon wedge
  3. Inch of ginger root
  4. Handful of flax seed
  5. 1 1/2 banana
  6. 1/2 small Japanese sweet potato
  7. 1 1/2 cups of kale
  8. 1/2 cup frozen blackberries ( bought frozen but use at room temperature)
  9. 1/3 cup cranberries
  10. Half handful of dried cherries
  11. 3 Brazil nuts
  12. Kiwi slice
  13. Few Splashes of coconut milk

How To:

  1. Blend hemp seeds and 1/2 cup water for 2 minutes until you get the consistency of hemp milk
  2. Add lemon wedge & ginger, blend for 30 seconds
  3. add bananas and Japanese sweet potato, blend for another 30 seconds – do not over-whip.
  4. Pour in bowl & rinse blender
  5. Take blackberries at room temperature and put them in the blender (but save a little juice of the top of the bowl) with kale, and and 2 tbs of cool water, blend until a smooth dark purple.
  6. Pour kale & raspberry mix on top of the sweet potato-banana-ginger bowl
  7. Layer with cranberries, dried cherries, kiwi, brazil nuts, hemp sprinkle, flax line, blackberry juice, and coconut milk drizzle.
  8. Refrigerate for 20 mins and eat, babe, eat!
Patience & love,

Baber

P.S. You may think dang, there are a lot of ingredients in this bowl, all wacky, and not so on-hand. But, when you center yourself around a healthy kitchen environment you honestly will end up with so many random nuts, dried fruits, frozen fruits, and fresh veggies that it will be easy to pull from your stock pile. Also, creating a new bowl is a fun way to venture out and buy what you normally would not!
